Hyde Lodge Horses
The next generation in performance
Meet Alex Tordoff…
Alex Tordoff is a 22-year-old event rider from Leicestershire and the driving force behind Hyde Lodge Horses.
Previously trained by several 5* riders, such current World Champion, Rosalind Canter. He was most recently based with J-P. Sheffield .
Alex was the top British rider at the 2015 European Junior Eventing Championships in Poland, finishing fifth overall.
Alex is now looking for owners and/or syndicate members to join the journey.
Hyde Lodge is brand new bespoke yard in the heart of rural Leicestershire, where he is developing his business or buying and selling horses of the highest quality, as well as his string of competition horses.
“I’ve always been blessed with fantastic support from so many around me, which has been fundamental in getting our team to where it is today.”
“I have known Alex for a couple of years now and have seen him develop confidence in his riding and training. His time with J P Sheffield was hugely influential in establishing him as a calm, assured producer of young horses and I saw him improve steadily throughout that year. I had no hesitation at all in sending him a young horse my daughter had produced last season when she went to work for Micheal Jung in Germany. I knew Alex could be relied upon to continue this lovely young horse’s steady development. My daughter has not returned from the Jung’s yard after a full season so it was with great sadness that a sale went through organised entirely by Alex, I am sure that this lovely young horse and this charming young man both have very bright futures ahead of them.”
Pip Wates, Owner of Equine Aqua Training
“Last year I realised a life’s dream and bought a young inexperienced horse. This would not have been possible without the facilities and support provided by Alex at Hyde Lodge Horses. I’m a busy Doctor working full time in the NHS who rides for fun and would not have had the time or knowledge to produce a youngster. It was so reassuring to know I had found the perfect environment to carefully produce the youngster up to a level when I would be confident to take over the ride. Right from sourcing a suitable horse, arranging viewings and help with the purchase process I could not have been in better hands.
It’s immensely enjoyable to see my horse progress, become more confident and build a relationship with Alex. I enjoy my yard visits, am welcomed as part of the team and feel as such. There will be a lot to look forward to in 2018. Thank you Team Tordoff.”Dr Lisa Hamilton
“Delighted with the youngster I purchased from Hyde Lodge in 2017. A super stamp with a very trainable attitude. Alex was extremely professional with excellent trial facilities. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hyde Lodge to anyone looking for a well produced event horse.”
Helen Needham; owner of Forever Noble
“We had the most fabulous time with Alex whilst he was competing our horse Chapman. He thrived off the facilities at Hyde Lodge, as well as the expertise that helped to devise his competition schedule, taking us to the very best events. We always had a great time, thanks to the lovely hospitality that was laid on.”
Julia Gibson, owner of Chapman
Following a successful career in Pony Club, Juniors, Young Riders and passing his A test, I was keen to employ the services of Alex for the Burghley Branch of the Pony Club. Alex had come up through Pony cCub and so understood the requirements needed of an instructor to cover a wide range of ages and abilities. We were not disappointed! Alex has a natural ability to teach, from four year olds on the lead rein to 20 year olds doing open eventing. His ability to communicate his tremendous knowledge thoroughly engages all those he teaches.
Within a year we soon promoted Alex from general training sessions to being coach and manager of our eventing and show jumping teams. These teams have achieved huge success at Inter Branch, Area and National level. The sessions he teaches for us are extremely popular and are often over subscribed, due to the high regard he is held by members and parents alike.
Patrick Campbell, District Commissioner, Burghley Pony Club
